This year on the occasion of the World Dance Day, SPIC MACAY is organising a month long festival of dance performances from 9^th April to 5^th May 2010. Though the World Dance Day is on 29^th April we are having a month long event as a tribute to great dancers and our classical dance forms with many programmes on World Dance Day itself in educational institutions everywhere . This will be celebrated in Delhi, NCR and all over the country.

Many legendary and eminent artistes are participating in this series like Pt.Birju Maharaj (Kathak), Shri Raja and Smt. Radha Reddy (Kuchipudi), Smt. Sonal Mansingh (Odissi), Guru. Singhajit Singh and Smt. Charu Sija (Manipuri), Smt. Chitra Visveswaran (Bharatnatyam), Smt.Shovana Narayan(Kathak), Smt.Uma Sharma(Kathak), Smt. Madhavi Mudgal (Odissi), Smt.Deepti Bhalla (Mohiniattam), Smt.Geeta Chandran (Bharatnatyam) and others.

The celebration has been made possible due to the cooperation of so many artistes and also due to the support received from Sangeet Natak Akademi, IRCTC, HUDCO, SAIL Common Wealth Games – 2010 and Ministry of Culture. The main idea behind the World Dance Day is to convey the richness of our varied dance forms and traditions to the young students so that they may imbibe the rhythm and be inspired by this aspect of our heritage.
