SPIC MACAY is organising its annual event, National School Intensive (NSI) from the 24th to the 30th of December, 2011 at Delhi Public School, Pune. This national level event will draw school students from all over the country who will get a feel of an inspiring Gurukul-like environment during their seven day stay on the campus. NSI 2011 will feature 15 classical music and dance concerts, 2 folk forms, 2 talks and 10 parallel intensives of music, dance, theatre, art and craft conducted by great masters from these fields. In addition, there will be 4 film screenings of cinema classics by Satyajit Ray, Charlie Chaplin, Akira Kurosawa and Shyam Benegal, 2 talks by eminent persons, daily Hatha yoga and Naad yoga sessions and heritage walks. We also aim to showcase authentic elements of Maharashtrian culture and holistic cuisine to students coming from the length and breadth of India.

Over these seven days, the students will be exposed to the very best of Indian heritage with maestros like Pt. Birju Maharaj, Pt. Shiv Kumar Sharma, Pts. Rajan and Sajan Mishra, Prof. T N Krishnan, Vidwan T N Seshagopalan, Pt. Ulhas Kashalkar, Pt. Vishwa Mohan Bhatt, Guru Kalamandalam Gopi, Pt. Venkatesh Kumar ,Vidushi Malavika Sarukkai, Vidushi Kanak Rele, Vidushi Sunaina Hazari Lal, Vidushi Shruti Sadolikar, Ustad Bahauddin Dagar, Shri Uday Bhawalkar, Shri Raghunandan Panshikar and Shri Kaivalya Kumar Gurav. An overnight concert, a fast-disappearing format, planned on 29th night will enable students to enrich and inspire themselves through an elevating experience. This year more than 350 students from over 80 schools will make DPS their home for these seven days.
Outstation schools can send 4 students accompanied by 1 teacher for the intensive. Pune schools can register their students as day participants. Mr. Sanjiv Kumar, head of the Takshila Education Society, impressed by the impact of NSI-2010 which he organised at DPS Patna, decided to host NSI-2011 at DPS, Pune. The Takshila Education Society will be the main supporter of the event.

The registration process has started. Please get in touch with your chapter coordinators. The last date for receipt of the completed registration form is November 15th.  Delegates need to arrive by the morning of the 24th, and leave after the 30th afternoon.
