World Virasat Concert at MDI Gurgaon - Report

For the first time, SPIC MACAY collaborated with the Canada High Commission in Delhi to invite the Canadian French duo Julie - Anne Derome, violinist from Montreal & Gabriel Pryn, cello player from France to perform for Indian students.

The musicians played classical compositions from the works by Beethoven, Handel, Chopin, Schubert and Ravel for the senior students of the Management Development Institute ( MDI ) in Gurgaon. After a hiatus of 2 years, the Institute hosted a SPIC MACAY event on 3rd September 2009. The artistes too were delighted to perform to a packed auditorium . In their words ” Our concert at MDI was very special to us. The audience attention gave us a lot of inspiration for our performance. The SM team was well organized and the hospitality provided to us was overwhelming “

The initiative to host the concert at MDI was taken by Ms Mansha Pathak, who was earlier a very active SM volunteer in Surat. She and her team enjoyed interacting with the musicians and as a result of their efforts, we again have an active chapter in the MDI, Gurgaon.

Information about the artistes is given in the attachment. This event was supported by the Conseil des Arts et des Lettres du Quebec and the Canada Council for the Arts.
