Heritage 2010 (Pune)

SPIC MACAY and Indian Council of Cultural Relations (ICCR) are jointly holding the Heritage 2010 Series in Pune . This special series aims at showcasing the wealth of knowledge and mysticism contained in the rich cultural heritage of India for the student community at large, especially for foreign students who would be ambassadors of our culture.

The festival will comprise of daily performances and workshops by eminent artistes, aimed at a close interaction with students, in the areas of classical music, dance, yoga, heritage walks, talks, film appreciation, meditation, folk arts and crafts.

The two-week Heritage Series will start with an inaugural flute recital by Padma Vibhushan Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia on the evening of January 15, 2010 and will conclude on January 30, 2010. The highlight of the series are two overnight concerts with performances by several maestros.

With over 40 concerts planned for the festival in 15 day duration, this event will be a deep insight into India’s rich cultural heritage for foreign students.

There is no entry fee for any of these concerts, however, preferential entry will be given to students with identity cards.

It will be a great event and I would love to be a part of it. Cultural heritage is the one to be preserved and valued.

Dear Sir,
All the events of Heritage 2010 initiative by SPICMACAY and ICCR
are going on very well and students are really getting pleasure to experience
such a wonderfull art which some schools and colleges students might be experiencing
first time.

On the Inaugural concert by Pandit Hariji 17 Angola cadets from Tolani maritime Institute
attended and they liked it so much so that they have started asking so many questions on the
hindusatni music and other art forms.they are in India ,Pune for a year .

i am from Mauritius and it has been really great to attend the shows. The opening ceremony was awesome!! SPIC MACAY has geven foreign students studying in Pune the opportunity to experience a very important aspect of the Indian cultural heritage.SPIC MACAY has given me the opportunity to listen to great masters and i am really impressed. By attending the shows we are all getting the opportunity to take home a part of the Indian Culture. Thank you, for giving us so much!
