Minutes of The Meeting
The much-awaited Bihar State Convention of the SPIC MACAY was held at Delhi Public School,Patna on April 4th and 5th 2009. The Convention focused on planning for future activities (Fest & Virasat), finance and publicity, responsibilities assignment and views, motivational support and orientation of volunteers. People from different parts of Bihar came to attend the convention. There were about 40 participants who attended the convention.
On 4th April 2009 a troupe of famous Rajasthani folk singers Langas and Manganiars staged the show on the school campus in the evening. A large number of music lovers, including parents of schoolchildren, turned up to savour the ‘delight of the deserts’. The troupe leader Roze Khan explained the nuances of the folk songs and dance with special emphasis on the unique instruments played by the artistes. Starting with the traditional welcome song, ‘Padharo mharo desh’, the troupe went on regale the audience for two hours with a variety of numbers, including “Nimbuda nimbuda …” and “Damadam mast kalandar.”
One of the highlights of the evening was the jugalbandi of DPS music teacher Raj Shekhar on tabla with the troupe. But it was the spellbinding performance of two female dancers that left the distinguished audience clamoring for more. The Kalbelia dancer, carrying five pitchers on her head, demonstrated perfect balance and harmony while performing some daredevilry during the show.
At the end of the show, Roze Khan called up Kiran Seth, the founder of SPIC MACAY movement, to felicitate him for receiving Padma Shree this year. Mrs Neelam Prabha proposed a vote of thanks.
The artistes who performed on April 5,2009 for the convention was Pandit Ram Kumar Mallick. The maestro from Darbhanga Gharana cast a spell on the connoisseurs of classical music with his superb rendition and perfect command over the intricate medium of singing. A large number of music lovers listened to the classical wizardry in rapt attention.
A workshop for the students on April 5, 2009 was also conducted by Langas and Mangniars which was very innovative and interesting for the students. The artistes also performed for the Students on april 6, 2009 at Delhi Public school Senior Wing and in the evening at Gyan Niketan school. A lec-dem was also conducted on April 7, 2009 at St. Michels School Patna.
A meeting of the SPICMACAY was held at Delhi Public School, Patna during its convention on April 4 & April 5, 2009. Meeting was also held on these two days where the major discussion was on the challenges the Spic Macay movement is facing in this region. Re-structuring and setting up long term goals and objectives and planning a road-map for future growth was also discussed.The meeting focused on planning for future activities (Fest,National Convention & Virasat), finance and publicity, responsibilities assignment and views, motivation support and orientation of volunteers.
Following points were discussed in the meeting:
- A circuit report was presented by Mr.yashwant. There has been 65 activities conducted in Bihar covering 11 different parts of the state.
- It was decided to organize the first circuit of this year in April 2009.
- More of Film module to be included in the activities.
- Holistic Food module can also be introduced in schools and colleges.
- Yoga and Field Trip to be included in the State Convention.
- Scholarship Scheme to be motivated to students.
- Circuit of dance was finalized. The artiste Ms.Mahua Shankar gave her consent to perform from April 17 to April 23, 2009. Since April 29th is the World Dance Day, it was discussed to explore possibility of organizing a dance show in Patna.
- It was confirmed that Pandit Chaurasia will inaugurate the Virasat event on 24 August.
- Mr. Sanjiv Kumar has given his consent to bear all the travel expenses to be incurred by Ms. Mahua Shankar.
- A proposal for National Convention to be held in Patna next year was given. Discussion on the same was done.
- It was decided that next State Convention will be held in Gaya on 28 & 29 November, 2009.
- It was discussed that regular meetings should be held on Saturday and make the movement more vibrant.
- Regular orientation programme should be conducted.
- The issue of funds was also discussed and it was observed that the Director of North-Central Zone Cultural Society, Allahabad could be approached for sponsorship.
- Each module was taken up by different Chapters of Bihar.
- Film Shows: Dr.T A Osmani will organize 100 series of films across the State. The selection of films will be done judiciously (Coordinator: Dr T A Usmani.).
- Classical Module: Mr.Yashwant will organize 100 programmes across the state. (Coordinator: Yashwant Parashar).
- Folk Module: Ms. Chetna will organize 30 programmes of the folk dance and song.(Coordinator: DPS, Patna)
- Craft & Madhubani Module: Mr. Abhishek Kr. Mishra will organize 20 programmes. (Coordinator: Mr. Abhishek Kr. Mishra)
- Yoga Module: Mr.S.K.Mishra will organise 25 programmes (Coordinator: S.K.Mishra)
- Talk Module: Mr.Chandan will organize 100 activities. ( Coodinator:Mr.Anupam Chowdhary)
- Walk Down The Monument: Ms.Maya Shankar will conduct 50 activities. ( Coordinator:Ms.Maya Shankar)
- Literature: Mr. Satyendra Kumar will organize 20 Kavi Sammelans and Mushairas.
