Greetings from SPIC MACAY- Hyderabad Chapter !!!
The “Society for Promotion of Indian Classical Music And Culture Amongst Youth” (SPIC MACAY) is a non-profit, voluntary, apolitical and participatory youth movement, dedicated to enriching education, by presenting a holistic vision of Indian culture, its priceless heritage of classical, folk and community traditions.
SPIC MACAY- Hyderabad Chapter will be organising about 25 events under the “VIRASAT 2011” during August- September ’11. Some of the eminent artistes who will perform in this series are: Shri T. N. Seshagopalan (Carnatic Vocal), Pt. Ronu Majumdar (Bansuri), Pt. Sanjeev Abhayankar (Hindustani Vocal), Shri Kalakrishna (Andhra Natyam & Perini Tandavam), Hyderabad Brothers (Carnatic Vocal Concert), Shri Bhutte Khan Manganiar & Group (Rajasthani Folk) and Kalamandalam Shri Kuttan Ashan (Kathakali). There would be other events like workshops, films, heritage walk and overnight concerts.
“Hyderabad VIRASAT 2011” will be inaugurated on 7th August ‘11(11.00 am) with a Carnatic Violin concert by Vidushi A. Kanyakumari at ‘University of Hyderabad’. This will be the Curtain Raiser event for our annual event “SPIC MACAY Yamini 2011”- the classical overnight cocert, scheduled to be held on 14th August 2011 at University of Hyderabad. Like last year, this year too Yamini promises to be an enthralling night where many esteemed performers and artists, who belong to the glorious tradition of Indian classical music, dance and art, will perform
