The National Convention 2011, Cuttack
SPIC MACAY is a non-governmental, non-profit and voluntary movement. The Society aims at having every child experience the inspiration and mysticism embodied in Indian and world heritage. With hundreds of chapters in cities all over India and abroad, SPIC MACAY conducts concerts of classical music, dance and folk arts, theatre, screening of classic films, heritage walks to monuments of historical and cultural significance, talks by eminent persons etc. in educational institutions in two series VIRASAT and FEST, every year. A national convention is conducted by bringing the youth from the entire country in a common platform, where they can exchange ideas, share experiences and provide a way forward for SPIC MACAY for realizing its objectives. Participants get to experience the performances by great maestros and get an insight into culture and music of India, its values and ethos. In an ashram like setting, the convention held each year during the summer vacation is designed to inspire the delegates to propagate the movement in the year ahead. The last convention was held at IIT Kanpur and was attended by about 1200 delegates from all over India.
