Rajendra Kulkarni, an outstanding Hindustani Flutist, had his musical training under the able guidance of his father and Guru Shri. Balasaheb Kulkarni and later on under Pt. Narayanrao V. Patwardhan. His style of flute playing is very different from traditional styles of flute playing. The style is a unique one and blends the rich qualities of various vocal traditions which are appreciated equally by music lovers, critics, and veterans. Apart from being an “A” grade artist of All India Radio & Doordarshan, he has also performed in many major cities in India as well as abroad. In recognition of his great talent, he has received many awards and honors, a few of which include „Sur-Mani‟, „Sangeet Alankar‟, „Yuva Kalakar Puraskar‟ etc.
