Smt. Ashwini Bhide-DeshpandeSmt. Ashwini Bhide-Deshpande, an artist of highest caliber, is amongst the vocalists of the younger generation of the Jaipur-Atrauli tradition of Khayal (classical) singing. She began her training at the age of five under the guidance of Pt. Narayanrao Datar. After graduating with a “Sangeet Visharad” from Gandharva Mahavidyalaya, she started receiving guidance and meticulous attention from her mother, Smt. Manik Bhide, a great Khayal singer herself. Currently she is also receiving guidance from one of the stalwarts of the Jaipur-Atrauli Gharana, Pt. Ratanakar Pai.
She has performed in a number of prestigious music conferences in India for over fifteen years and has had successful concert tours of Europe and North America. Ashwini Bhide has created her own style to compliment the different styles that have influenced her. She has created many of her own Bandishes (compositions), which she has published in her book “Ragarachananjali”. Her concerts are usually marked by the systematic exposition of ragas and the ease and grace with which she sings all the three octaves.
