Sitar
The sitar is synonymous with a sense of enthrallment; this string instrument created by the Mughals has been a deep rooted part of Classical Indian Music. Well known sitarists like Pt. Ravi Shankar and his daughter Anoushka Shankar have made this instrument a part of world heritage. In so many ways the sitar is like the guitar, but any music, when accompanied with the sitar reaches new levels of sublimity. The sitar has character in each note and this pulls at your heart when you listen to it with an open heart. The meeting of east and west - The Beatles and Pt.Ravi Shankar makes one realise that music is boundless, enjoy this legacy today, just as they did!!
One of the renowned artist is Pt. Nayan Ghosh
