SPIC MACAY entered into a collaboration with Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (vide letter F. No. 110338/08/2010KVSHQ/Acad/AEO (P)/521-22, dated 28.082014;); in regards to carrying out SPIC MACAY programs at Kendriya Vidyalayas. National Curriculum Framework (NCF) also 2005 advocates the necessity of going beyond the scholastic pursuits in the interest of overall growth and development of the students. In this regard the various elements embedded in the rich cultural heritage of this country needs to be presented before the young minds so that such heritage is preserved and propagated.
Supported by Ministry of HRD, SPIC MACAY is also integrating its activities under the Swaccha Bharat Abhiyan of Govt. of India, thus inspiring the students for inner cleansing through classical music & dance, folk and other aspects of our rich and composite intangible heritage. SPIC MACAY has also been asked by Ministry of HRD, Govt. of India to support the Swacchha Bharat Abhiyan by creating awareness about the ethos of Mahatma Gandhi; focussing on the MHRD supported institutions, including KVs and JNVs. We are, therefore, intending to screen The Making of the Mahatma by Shri Shyam Benegal, alongwith a regular SPIC MACAY program in all these schools.
In recent years, with addition to music and dancetheatre, yoga, folk arts and an overall lifestyle have also become the part of the SPIC MACAY movement. They conduct VIRASAT/FEST, Conventions and talks which introduce students to several young, upcoming as well as senior renowned artistes, giving them an opportunity to witness their insightful performances and interact with them. Such enriching interactions help then in developing a wholesome understanding of not only the art form but also the artiste as a practitioner of a certain way of life.
In order to join this movement of promoting value education more effectively, it is suggested that KVs:
1. Setup “SPIC MACAY Heritage Clubs” with preferably one teacher and five students.
2. Conduct SPIC MACAY activities.
3. Selected students could be sent to participate in SPIC MACAY’s National School Intensive/Rural School Intensive/ International, Zonal or State Conventions which would inspire them to take this
movement forward in their zones.
